Final Project Report

Describe the overall concept of your website, clearly articulating its target audience and what makes it unique from other similar sites.

Just like the report I submitted early in this semester, Kiki Kids Club is a website that focuses on helping young children learn and enhancing their willingness to learn. The audience of the website is mainly children under the twelfth grade and their parents. It also includes adults who work in children’s education or anyone else interested in children’s education. Children’s education is the important foundation of the education career, people who have good study habits and academic performance at an early age will be more likely to succeed and as the COVID – 19 outbreak, closed campus more and more countries around the world, it’s more highlights the importance of online learning, the students can take the online learning whenever and wherever, This provides them with great convenience and saves them a lot of time, which is why I created a website with the theme of children’s education. (Alexander, 2021)

Different from other learning websites, this website has inserted many exquisite cartoon patterns and developed a game area, which makes Kiki Kids Club not let the children feel very boring and is more interesting and attractive than other learning websites.

Explain what your own learning and research goals were for this project. What ideas, skills, techniques or concepts did you set out to understand through this assignment, and how did you accomplish this?

The development of modern technology has also promoted the progress of communication technology, and people’s social platforms have also undergone continuous changes. It is very exciting to learn a major that is popular with the public and has development prospects. I put forward three requirements for my website: convenient, interesting and practical and these three points are very important for my website. Firstly, Since the audience of the website is mainly young children, they will not be interested in cumbersome and complex websites. Convenience is very important to them. The copywriting on the website will be as simple and understandable as possible, and the operation steps will be made as easy as possible. (Friedman, 2008) It will save them a lot of energy and allow them to focus on learning and the site itself. Secondly, children’s attention will only focus on what they think is interesting, so I will insert many exquisite patterns and create a play area on website, which will make them more interested in learning. Lastly, Kiki Kids Club will classify each grade and each subject and produce a large number of key knowledges for dummies, which will enable students to master more knowledge in the shortest possible time.

Show how you have purposefully used the various kinds of visual communication (photography, design, typography, et al), to connect with your audience. Include images that you have used in your website to illustrate the approach you have taken and make a clear argument about why this kind of visual communication is the best approach for your concept.

I selected a lot of beautiful cartoon patterns and inserted them into the websites. This is to make my website look more interesting and children are more receptive to knowledge. Patterns can be more impressive than text, which makes the website easier for others to remember. In terms of the layout of the website itself, I also adopted a very simple design style, with a white background and black fonts. The black and white mode will increase the contrast and make the fonts more conspicuous. The buttons use light blue tones, and this will make the website look easy. This allows the website itself to have a good sense of space, and users can browse the web easily and quickly. In addition, the important items on the website are classified one by one: game area, study area, discussion area, and these items are separated by a suitable distance, which makes the copywriting on the website very eye-catching and easy to find. Users just only need to scan and at a glance when they want to find the items you need at a glance, which not only ensures the rich functionality of the website, but also saves users a lot of time.(Karol, 2021)

Finally, non-essential items such as Contact to designer, About, Blog, etc. are included in the Menu at the top right corner of the page. Including these non-essential items in menu makes the site more focused and users can also find these easily.

Discuss how you have used other digital platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, et al) to further extend your concept’s brand and to connect with your audience. Consider how you have used these digital platforms to create a coherent user experience design across different online spaces. You will need to embed at least one post from another social media platform into your webpage.

As well as creating the website, I also developed exclusive accounts for Kiki Kids Club on Instagram and Tik Tok. The reason I chose these two social platforms is that both Tik Tok and Instagram have a large number of young users and these people are the main source of the audience of the website. Users like Twitter and Facebook are mainly young and middle-aged, which do not meet the audience requirements of Kiki Kids Club. In addition, I also embedded the first activity posted by Kiki Kids Club on my Tik Tok and I also posted the link and introduction information of the website in my WeChat Moments. When the website releases important information in the future, the social platforms on Tik Tok and Instagram will always release the same information, which will let more people know about Kiki Kids Club and provide more audiences for the website. (Knight, 2021)

Because the audiences of my website are highly similar, when users browse to the news posted on the website on social platforms, they can let more people like them see the website accounts and news through private messages and likes.Everyone can directly contact the website developer through the private message function of the social account, which can ensure that their questions about the website can be quickly answered, and it also greatly enhances the visibility of the website.

Explain how you have designed the layout, interface and structure of your website to best serve the needs of your audience. You may want to use screenshots of your interface design or diagrams of your site’s structure to illustrate this.

Earlier this semester I had planned the layout of the website, but for some reasons, I made some changes to the layout of the website, but all the functions of the website remained unchanged.

At the beginning of the website, I put in an introduction to the theme of the website: Here you can easily integrate into a relaxed and immersive learning environment and learn in a happier way, and bold and italicize this text as a key display. This allows visitors to better understand the subject of the website. In the next part, I use beautiful cartoon pictures as decoration, because I always believe that pictures are more eye-catching than words. If the users continue to scroll down, they can check in the information and services frame to understand the various information provided by the website. and they can click on the button included in the description of each service to learn more about it. If they continue to scroll down, users can view the website’s related information and the developer’s contact information. In the upper right corner of the page is the menu bar, which contains contact designer, about, blog, etc., these information does not occupy too much space on the website. The content of my website is concise, organized and purposeful, so users can have a very good sense of experience when visiting the website. (Orbit media, ND)

Examine your audience and its engagement with your concept by using statistics gathered either directly from the website or through other digital platforms. You can use charts and graphs to illustrate these metrics. Discuss some of the potential explanations for your findings, and their implications.

Due to the late completion of the website, the number of visits to Kiki Kids Club is only about 90 and there are only a few likes and reposts from other social platform. This shows that the publicity of social platforms has not been widely spread to the circles of young children or their parents. I think it will take more time and energy. Further promotion and optimization according to user preferences and high traffic of certain specific items is the key to the success of a website. In the future, I will make further optimization based on the most discussed website features in the discussion area. In addition, according to the comment area the release time of various comments on the website can also determine the peak period of users’ daily use of the website, and the maintenance and update of related websites should be completed before the peak period.

Taking into account how you have developed your concept, audience and digital platforms over the last few months, how would you envision moving forward with the site? What would you change in terms of design, concept or intended audience to improve or grow the site?

In the next few months or even years, I expect my website will be welcomed by more people and have more users. Because of the impact of COVID-19, online work and study have temporarily become the main points of people’s communication way, so I think this will let more people understand the advantages and importance of online learning, which will also attract more users to my website than before. (Francis, 2020)

In the future revision plan of the website, I hope to add a dark mode to the website, because long-term exposure to bright light will affect vision, which is very important for children. In addition, I plan to set the button as a ghost button in the future. It will make my website look trendier. Finally, I think regular user feedback is very important, so in the future, I will create user information files and record each of their mailbox. Every month, the website will automatically send a quiz containing several website usage satisfaction surveys to their mailbox. The website will make various changes based on their feedback.
